About PABCO

The Pittsburgh Air Brake Company, Inc. (PABCO) is a family-owned and -operated business with over 30 years of loyal service to our customers. The company was opened in 1990 by William E. Jubeck after a 23-year career with the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad. While he is now retired, he continues to serve as a teacher and Technical Advisor in our Education Department, providing 50+ years of invaluable experience and knowledge of the railroad business.

President Michael R. Jubeck, Sr. has been with PABCO since its inception and took over the day-to-day operations of the company since his father’s retirement. He credits his father for sharing his wisdom and expertise and hopes to pass it on to his own son in turn.

Our Services

We service passenger, locomotive, and freight car braking systems. We are one of the few brake shops in the country that can service the old P, K, and L-type triple valves dating from 1889. We can also service Universal Control (UC) valves (which date from 1930), D-22 Control valves (which date from 1940), and 26-C Control Valves.

We also service locomotive brake systems, from the old 6-ET (steam locomotive) brake to the modern 26-F locomotive brake system.

We can service modern freight car braking systems, too. We have the equipment and expertise to service ABD, ABDW, and ABDX freight car systems.

Single Car Testing Devices - both freight and passenger - can be reconditioned and certified to AAR requirements by PABCO.
